Axminster
Axminster is a market community and also civil parish on the eastern boundary of the county of Devon in England, some 28 miles (45 kilometres) from the county town of Exeter. The community is improved a hillside neglecting the River Axe which heads in the direction of the English Channel at Axmouth, as well as remains in the East Devon local government district. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 5,626, enhancing to 5,761 at the 2011 census. The community has two electoral wards (community and rural) the total amount of both wards being a population of 7,110. The market is still held every Thursday. Axminster provided its name to a type of rug. An Axminster-type power loom is capable of weaving premium quality rugs with many differing colours as well as patterns. While Axminster rugs are made in the town by Axminster Carpets Ltd, this type of rug is now produced around the world.
