Searching for commercial roofing in Aberaeron? Our commercial roofer specialists in Aberaeron will be able to offer you the ideal quotes for getting commercial roofing installed or replaced.

Commercial roofing could possibly be needed for a number of reasons, especially if the existing roof requires repair or it'll be attached to a brand new build.

There are lots of variables that can contribute to the look and planning of a new commercial roof structure and the cost will all be determined by the size and style you go for.

Thermoplastic roofing is particularly popular. This type of roofing is made of a resilient material with high temperature tolerance. The material is a favourite for commercial roofs because it's resistant to ultra-violet and chemical exposure. The roofing can last for more than 20 years, with a great resistance for fire, punctures and high wind loads.

You may also think about EPDM roofing. The sturdiness and versatility of EPDM roofing helps make it a popular material in the commercial roofing world. These types of roofing materials have the advantage of being much easier to install, sustain and restore too, contributing to their popularity.

If you wish to install commercial roofing then make certain to review prices between vetted specialists in Aberaeron. By doing this you will get the best cost and deal available for you within Aberaeron.

Aberaeron

Aberaeron is a seaside resort town in Ceredigion, Wales. It lies between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, and contains the headquarters of Ceredigion County Council. At the 2001 census, the population was 1422. The town derives its name from the Welsh which means 'mouth of the River Aeron'.

Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne planned and developed the town in 1805. He built a harbour that worked as a port and supported the shipbuilding industry in the 19th century. A cluster of workmen's houses and a school were also built on the harbour's north side, but these have since been reclaimed by the sea.

Craftspeople inhabited Aberaeron even before it became an operating port. In 1830, there were bootmakers, bakers and carpenters to name a few.

Aberaeron has unusual architecture. Edward Haycock constructed it around a principle square of Regency buildings grouped around the harbour. Some of the architecture has been included on British postage stamps.

A notable feature of the town is Castell Cadwgan. It was a 12th-century ringwork fortification which was by the shore, but the sea has since claimed it. Some remains of the enclosure bank are still visible.

FAQs

What is commercial roofing?

Commercial roofing simply refers to any roofing work, including installation and repair, that is done to commercial buildings. This might include office roofs, shop roofs or commercial unit roofs. Every building needs a roof to keep out the rain!

Since looks aren’t usually the first priority with commercial buildings, lots of commercial properties have flat roofs. These are often made from felt, EDPM rubber or fibreglass. Felt is the cheapest commercial roofing material, while fibreglass tends to be the most expensive. In felt roofs, roofers use an adhesive to stick roofing felt onto a frame. EDPM rubber roofs have a rubber membrane that is laid down and glued onto the roof and coated with a contact adhesive, while fibreglass uses a cut glass fibre mat that is pressed on before a resin and topcoat are applied.

Not all roofing companies will offer commercial roofing services, because generally the buildings tend to be bigger. Small companies won’t have enough tradespeople to work on a roof without making it very expensive for you. Commercial buildings also tend to need more scaffolding to make it safe for the professionals to work, so some smaller roofing companies won’t offer commercial services. Make sure you check a company’s website or social media if you’re looking for commercial roofing – on the Quotatis Directory, our roofers will show whether they do commercial roofing to make your search easier.

How long does it take to fix a roofing sheet on a commercial property?

How long it takes to fix a roofing sheet on a commercial property will depend on the size of your roof and how difficult access is. Corrugated iron roofing sheets are much easier to fit than other roofing materials such as clay tiles or EDPM rubber, so that will work in your favour.

The size of the team of the roofing company you engage will also make a difference. If they have a lot of tradespeople working on your roof with lots of experience, it will take less time, while if there are only a couple of people it will take longer.

Another thing to bear in mind when considering how long it will take to fix a roofing sheet is the weather. If it starts to rain, the contractors will probably have to stop and wait, as the roof will be too slippery to work on.

In general, it should take between 1 and 3 days to fit roofing sheets on a commercial property. If you’re not having a full roof replacement, it may only take one day, whereas a completely new metal roof could take up to 3 days.

Am I liable for a leaking roof in a commercial property?

Whether you’re liable for a leaking roof in a commercial property will depend on your ownership status and any contracts. Of course, if you own a standalone commercial property, it would make it your responsibility to repair to leaking roof. But if you own an office within a building, you should check your paperwork to see whether you are responsible for some or all of a leaking roof.

If you’re a tenant in a commercial property, things get a bit more complicated. Lots of commercial leases are FRI, or Full Repairing and Insuring leases, which means that the tenant is responsible for all external and internal maintenance and insuring the building. It means that it’s vital that you read through your tenancy agreement in full before signing it and seek legal advice if you think you need it. If your lease is an FRI lease, you are liable for a leaking roof in your commercial property.

It’s important to ensure that you have a schedule of condition for the property, which will mean that you only have to restore the commercial property back to the condition that it was in when you took over. It’s also worth getting the roof inspected before you sign the lease, as if there is any damage before you sign the landlord may be responsible.

The best way to avoid having to pay for a leaking roof in a commercial property is prevention. If you are liable for repairs and maintenance, make sure you have the roof inspected regularly by a reputable company to avoid having to pay for costly repairs when disaster strikes.

How much does it cost to replace a commercial flat roof?
If your commercial flat roof needs replacing, how much it costs will depend on how big the roof is and what you want it to be made from. Lots of commercial flat roofs are made from felt or asphalt, but people are also beginning to turn to materials like EDPM rubber and fibreglass. Flat roofs can last a long time, but if it’s been 20 years or more since you had it replaced or inspected, it might be time for a new one. If a roofer inspects it and finds lifting, flashing problems, sagging or lots of blisters, it’s probably time to replace your flat commercial roof. So how much does it cost to replace your commercial flat roof? The average cost is around £4,500, but it could be much less or much more. It depends on how big your roof is and what material you choose. Felt is the cheapest material you can use for your commercial flat roof, at around £40-70 per metre squared, while a lead bay roof will cost the most at £90-110 per square metre. EDPM rubber and fibreglass roofs are being used more and more because they’re so durable, and they will cost between £80 and £110 per square metre. It might be worth spending a little more upfront to get a stronger and longer-lasting commercial flat roof.
