Carnoustie

Carnoustie is a town and former police burgh within the council area of Angus in Scotland. It's at the mouth of the Barry Burn on the North Sea coast. As outlined by the 2011 census, Carnoustie features a permanent population of around 11394 people. This makes it the fourth biggest town in Angus. The town was founded during the late 1700s, and it grew rapidly throughout the nineteenth century as a consequence of the development of the local textile market. Carnoustie benefited from the 19th century fashion for sea bathing. The arrival of the railway enabled the town to grow into a well-liked tourist location, and it was promoted as the 'Brighton of the North' in the early 20th century. Carnoustie may be regarded as a dormitory town. As well as bringing industry to Carnoustie, the opening of the railway also made the town attractive for the middle classes, who made use of it as a commuter town for Dundee, further boosting population growth in the town. Practically 50% of the employed population now commute to Dundee for work. It is still served by Carnoustie railway station, and significantly less so by Golf Street railway station. Its nearest main road is the A92. The town is best known for the Carnoustie Golf Links course that frequently hosts The Open Championship. Even though golf has been played on Barry Links since the 16th century, a formal 10-hole golf course was laid out in 1850 to the design and style of Alan Robertson of St Andrews. It was later improved in 1867 by Old Tom Morris, who added a further 8 holes. This course was redesigned during the 1920s by James Braid. FAQs

What does an architect do?

Architects specialise in designing new properties, extensions and interior layouts. Land and property owners typically hire an architect to help them create structures that compliment their environment, make best practical use of space, are structurally sound and meet budget requirements.

Architects typically offer design and project management services. This means that they’re involved in a project from start to finish, creating a concept, submitting planning and other applications, and managing construction. However, you can also hire an architect just to create your design and plans.

Do I need a residential architect?

Residential architects can help make sure that your building or extension is designed beautifully. They may also be able to develop plans which create extra space, or add more functionality. In addition, having plans may speed up the building process and reduces the chance of errors.

What can a commercial architect offer?

Commercial architects can produce plans and technical drawings as well as offering advice and assistance to help you achieve your desired goal. They will also put a creative spin on your building project – perfect for retail or office buildings. Commercial architects will make your building stand out from the crowd!

Do I need an architect to build a house?

Like building an extension, you’re not legally required to hire an architect to build a house. However, given the amount of money you’ll be investing in your project, it’s vital to get it right. Clear, accurate plans are essential for any builder or other tradesperson to get the right materials in the right place. Building projects that go wrong because of inaccurate plans can at best look odd, and at worst be structurally unsound.

We’d recommend hiring either an architect or a skilled design and build company to create the plans for your new house. If you hire an architect to do your designs, you can choose whether to involve them further in your project, or use another professional or your own skills to take care of any applications and project management.
