Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield is a market town and civil parish inside the South Buckingham district in Buckinghamshire, positioned 23.6 miles (38 km) north west of London and 17 miles (27 km) south east of the county's administrative town, Aylesbury. 4 towns are within 5 miles of Beaconsfield: Slough, Amersham, Gerrards Cross and High Wycombe. It has an area of about 8 square miles. Based on the 2011 Census, the town boasts a resident population of around 12,081 individuals. The parish church at the crossroads of Old Beaconsfield is devoted to St. Mary, and it was rebuilt of flint and bath stone by the Victorians in 1869. The United Reformed Church in Beaconsfield can trace its roots of non-conformist worship in the town back to 1704. Old Beaconsfield features several old coaching inns along a wide street of red brick houses and modest shops. It was the first coach stopping place on the road between London and Oxford. An annual fair is traditionally held on 10th May. Its charter, granted in 1269, originally allowed for a yearly market for the trading of goods and livestock, but it has now evolved into a funfair, held for one day only. In recent years, some residents have opposed the fair as a hindrance for the Old Town, and have called for the 735 year-old fair to be stopped. The town neighbours the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has a wide area of Georgian, neo-Georgian and Tudor revival high street architecture, referred to as the Old Town. It's famous for the first model village in the world and, in education, a direction and technical production institute, the National Film and Television School. For all your property improvements, be certain that you employ trustworthy pros in Beaconsfield to make sure that you get the best quality service.

FAQs

Can a residential architect help me with planning permission?

Yes. Residential architects are invaluable and will be able to manage the application process as well as offer you advice on the best way to design your building to satisfy the local authority. They can also help with ideas as well as advising on what is possible and what is not possible.

Do I need an architect for an extension?

It’s not essential to hire an architect for a new extension project, but it can help you get a good result.

If you’d like to put your whole extension project in the hands of a professional, hiring an architect is a great idea. They’ll work with you to create the design you want, and can manage planning applications and work with building contractors to make sure your extension ends up just the way you want it.

However, if you want to save money, there are plenty of other options. Even if you’ve got good vision, you’ll need a professional of some kind to draw up plans for you. Either hire an architect to only do design work, or hire a design and build company to do the whole thing for you. If you’ve got the skills, you could even commission a design professional to draw up the plans and then build the thing yourself.

There are lots of design professionals out there, with different levels of experience and skill. So, it’s a good idea to pick a professional who has the level of skill to match your needs.

How should I choose a commercial architect?

Choose an architect whose design vision fits with yours – but make sure they’ve got something new to bring to the table. Also check them out to see what projects they have previously undertaken. Ask them. Communication is vital. Pick a commercial architect who can communicate well with everybody involved in the project.

How to reduce architect fees?

If you’d like to hire a residential architect, but have limited funds, there are several things you can try to reduce their quote.

Firstly, you don’t necessarily need to hire them for project management – you could just ask them to do the design. This will mean you’ll have to do some extra donkey work, but you could choose between finding a cheaper professional to do your project management or simply doing it yourself.

There might also be other architectural services that you can cut down on. Some professionals offer extras like landscape, interior and detailed joinery design. If you can do without any of these, this will help to reduce the overall cost.

You could also think about scaling down your project. Lots of residential architects work out their fees as a percentage of the total construction cost of your project. Lower the cost of this, and your fees might go down too.
