Maesteg is a town and community in the ceremonial county of Mid Gamorgan and in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. It is situated at the north end of the Llynfi Valley, next to the border with Neath Port Talbot. Much like the rest of Wales, the English and Welsh languages constitute the town's official languages. Though a substantial proportion of residents are natural English speakers, there is a modest part of the community that speak Welsh. Of the 20612 inhabitants noted in the 2011 Census, 11 percent of the town's population speak Welsh. There are considerable differences between age groups, with 27.9 per cent of 3 to 15 year olds speaking Welsh, 8.6 per cent of 16 to 64 year olds, and the lowest proportion being amongst the over 65s at 5.3 per cent. The opening of ironworks in the 1820s and 1830s promoted the growth of the town. Between 1890 and 1925, Maesteg held a global reputation as a producer of Admiralty-grade steam coal, high quality cooking coal and the leading house coal in South Wales. By the early 1920s, 7000 miners operated in the town. With the decline of the coal industry and the closure of the last pit in 1985, the town is now characterised as being more residential and domiciliary in nature, mainly for the Port Talbot, Bridgend and Cardiff journey to work areas. Set up in 1881, Maesteg Market continues to be a well-attended market, which is positioned on the ground floor of Maesteg Town Hall and a large range of goods are offered. The town is also identified for its strong music and singing heritage, being the home of multiple choirs and bands. For all of your home upgrades, make certain to make use of trustworthy contractors in Maesteg to make certain of quality.

How Much To Plaster A Room?
Generally, the standard of plastering in older houses leaves a lot to be desired. Having settled for so many years, there is a lot of tendency that anything brittle will break or crumble with the movement. And this is exactly where plasters fall.
Plaster provides a wide range of functions in your home and as a result, has grown to become very popular amongst several homeowners. So if you want to plaster a room, you might just wish to estimate the cost so you can set a budget and start to plan. However, there’s no short and simple answer to this as the cost of plastering is based on a number of factors. These factors include the dimensions of the room, the accessibility of the surface, the condition of the existing plaster as well as the size of the company.
So if you want to paster your room, you can either remove the old plaster or skim a 3mm plaster coat over the existing one. In respect to the two options, the prices will also vary. However, several plastering experts will charge either on the average room size or a daily rate. This is due to the fact that they know approximately the number of area they can cover in a day’s work. You can, however, request a quotation which specifies the costs per square metre in order to allow you compare with other contractors. In reality, several plastering professionals use either small, medium or large sized room as the yard stick for providing a quote.
Generally, for a small sized room, you’ll have to pay about £600 to £700, a medium sized will cost within the range of £650 to £1000, while a large sized room will cost between the range of £1000 to £1500.
Plastering is suitable to cover most Artex. If it’s shallow Artex, it may be covered by skimming plaster on top. If the pattern of the Artex is too deep, you may need to use plasterboard to cover it or if you want to remove it entirely, you will need to use a wallpaper steamer.
Plastering will fix small cracks in walls. Very small cracks may be fixed by simply reskimming plaster. More serious cracks will usually mean that you need to use new plasterboard or backing plaster. Larger jobs or deep cracks may need an experienced plasterer to come in.
How Much Do Plasterer’s Charge?
If you’re look to plaster your walls, one of the first things that’ll come to mind is the cost to complete the project so you can set a budget and start planning as soon as possible. However, the amount charged by plasterer, just like other tradesmen, is based on a number of factors. These factors include how urgent the project is, how long it’ll take as well as what materials are needed. Some of the other influencing factors of plastering jobs include the accessibility of the location, the size of the wall to be plastered and also the current condition of the old plaster. Therefore, you can expect a plaster work of multiple rooms with deteriorating old plaster to be more expensive than a simple refresh of a single wall in a relatively good condition.
It’s likely you’d also get the average cost per room reduce when you require the plastering of several rooms. As a result, to get a final price for your plastering work, you’ll have to call in a qualified and experienced tradesman who’ll consider all the unique requirements of your project and provide a suitable quote.
✓ Medium sized room plastering. A medium sized room would be a room that’s roughly between 3.5m by 5m or one that can comfortable accommodate up to 8 individuals. This will cost within the range of £520 to £870.
✓ Small sized room plastering. Small room such as small kitchens, box bedrooms, utility rooms and the likes will require less plaster but more intricacy with the plasterer having to work in tight spaces. This will cost within the range of £215 to £370.
