Tywyn
Tywyn, previously meant Towyn, is a community, neighborhood, as well as seaside resort on the Cardigan Bay shore of southerly Gwynedd, Wales. It was formerly in the historic county of Merionethshire. It is well-known as the location of the Cadfan Stone, a rock cross with the earliest well-known instance of written Welsh, and the home of the Talyllyn Railway. At the time of the 2001 census, 40.5% of the population were recorded as Welsh speakers. By the 2011 census this had reduced to 37.5%. These relatively high figures (given the town's demography) mirror using both Welsh and English as the medium of instruction in Ysgol Penybryn, the town's primary school. An Estyn examination report in 2010 noted that concerning 11% of the children at the institution originated from houses where Welsh was the major language.
