Lairg is a village and also church in Sutherland, Scotland. It has a population of 891 as well as goes to the south-eastern end of Loch Shin. Lairg is unusual in the north Highlands, otherwise unique, in being a huge settlement that is out the coastline. One of the reasons that Lairg is a little larger than various other non-coastal Highland towns is its central area within the region of Sutherland. Having four roadways which fulfill in the town, it used to be referred to as "The Crossroads of the North". In the 19th century, it was given with a train station, on what is now the Far North Line. This growth means that the north-west of Sutherland is now less complicated to get to. (The Far North Line links Inverness in the south with Thurso and also Wick in the north.).
