Planning Permission in East Molesey

Planning permission is a system whereby local authorities can consent to building works by granting permission for the proposed work. Garage conversions will usually not need planning permission, as long as the work is internal and you don't plan to expand the structure of your property. Garage conversions are usually covered under permitted development rights, which cover a number of home improvement work. However, these rights have been taken away in a few areas by councils, particularly in new builds, therefore it is always worth checking with your local authority. If you're intending to undertake a garage conversion on a listed building or are in a conservation area, you will need planning permission. In addition, if the walls of your garage are shared walls with a neighbouring property, you will require a Party Wall Agreement. You will still need to adhere to all building regulations relevant to your garage conversion whether or not you need planning permission. These building regulations cover elements of the conversion like insulation, escape routes, fire proofing and ventilation, so it is often a good idea to work with an architect to draft plans and approve designs in order to ensure compliance with these regulations. You'll likely still need to submit plans detailing the change of use of the garage to your local authority. If planning permission is considered from the start of the project, it is far less likely that there will be any trouble further down the road. The majority of planning permission applications in England are approved.

East Molesey

East Molesey is a sizeable village in the suburban district of Molesey on the periphery of Greater London in England. It lies on the southern bank of the River Thames in the northeast of the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey, ranging north across the River Thames into the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. As of 1933, the Urban District of East and West Molesey ended up being a section of the Esher Urban District, and in 1974, after the Local Government Act of 1972 entered into effect, the district combined with the Walton and Weybridge Urban District to form the brand new borough of Elmbridge. The village can be located around 11.7 miles and 13.5 miles from Charing Cross and next to the other large village, West Molesey, and it is a part of the capital's neighboring residential areas that form the Greater London Urban Area. In accordance with the 2011 Census, it is an area with a permanent population of around 19088. Until 1200, the names East and West Molesey were not employed, and there was only one parish based around what is known today as East Molesey. There are different options for social and leisure activities in the village. East Molesey shares a high street with West Molesey, and it even has an additional 2nd street lined with independent and commercial chain shops and bistros near to Hampton Court Palace. Molesey Hurst, also described as Hurst Park, is a significant spot of land that is home to East Molesey Cricket Club. It is in addition the place where the Hampton Ferry (London) can be caught, taking a trip to Hampton on the Middlesex bank. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make use of reputable experts in East Molesey to make certain of quality.
