Liskeard

Liskeard is an ancient stannary and also market community as well as civil parish in south eastern Cornwall, England, UK. Liskeard is located around 20 miles (32 kilometres) west of Plymouth, 14 miles (23 kilometres) west of the River Tamar as well as the boundary with Devon, and also 12 miles (20 km) eastern of Bodmin. The community is at the head of the Looe valley in the old hundred of West Wivelshire as well as has a population of 9,417. Liskeard was the base of the previous Caradon District Council and it still has a community council. There are 3 wards in Liskeard (consisting of Dobwalls). The complete population at the 2011 census was 11,366. In 1974 Liskeard was twinned with Quimperlé (Kemperle) in Brittany, France.
