Largs is a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire in Scotland. It is set approximately 33 miles (53 km) from Glasgow. The original name means "the slopes" (An Leargaidh) in Scottish Gaelic. The town markets itself on its cultural links with the Vikings and an annual festival is held in early September. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 11241. Largs grew from the estates of North Cunninghame over which the Montgomeries of Skelmorlie emerged as temporal lords in the 17th century. Sir Robert Montgomerie built Skelmorlie Aisle in the ancient kirk of Largs in 1636 as a family mausoleum. Today, the monument is all that stays of the old kirk. From its roots as a small village around its kirk, Largs developed into a busy and popular seaside resort in the 19th century. Sizeable hotels were developed and the pier was completed in 1834. It was not up until 1895, however, that the train made the connection to Largs, which consolidated the town's popularity. It also came to be a highly regarded location to live, and a number of eye-catching mansions were developed. The most considerable of which includes 'Netherhall', the residence of William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, the physicist and engineer. Even with its lowered status as a vacation resort, much of Largs is still focused towards tourism. There is the award winning Vikingar Centre at Barrfields, an interactive glance into the history of Viking life; Kelburn Country Centre, Barrfields Pavilion Theatre, Largs Swimming Swimming Pool, Douglas Park and Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre. It is best known for 'Nardinis', the distinguished ice cream parlour, cafe and eatery, that dominates the Esplanade and which reopened in late 2008. For all your home refurbishments, make sure to determine credible professionals in Largs to make certain of quality.

How Much Do Painters And Decorators Charge?
If you’re thinking about painting your home or property, then one of the first things that crosses the mind is the amount charged by painter or decorators to carry out the project. However just like any other home improvement projects and as with most tradesmen, the amount charged by a painter and decorator largely varies from job to job depending on a plethora of factors. These factors include your location, the urgency at which you need the job done and whether or not a specialist equipment would be required.
For painters and decorators, one of the biggest influencing factors that determines the price to be charged is the size of the room. For instance, if you have a large room to be painted, it’s definitely going to cost you more than a smaller room. And same applies to multiple rooms when compared to single room. In other words, to get a more accurate cost estimate from your tradesman, you’ll need to have a good idea of the size of your room or rooms. So let’s take a closer look!
✓ Painting a mid-sized room. The question here is, how do you know if your room is medium sized? The room will have a size of about 3.5m by 5m or a room that can conveniently allow up to 6 to 8 people. The price range is between £240 to £410.
✓ Wallpapering a mid-sized room. This uses the logic as painting a mid-sized room but the price can differ due to difference in materials used. The price range here is between £204 to £420.
✓ Painting a large ceiling. Painting a ceiling is very similar to painting a wall but its not as straightforward and will consume more time. The price ranges from £286 to £5476.
Your painter and decorator will carry out most of the preparation work for your project. You can help them by ensuring that the area is clean and tidy. Also, remove as many personal items and pieces of furniture from the area as possible and make sure all your internal doors are firmly closed just in case of dust from rubbing down.
There are lots of paints that are suitable for different areas of your property. In general, gloss and eggshell paints should be used in high traffic areas, whereas matte paints are suitable for lower traffic areas. Professional painters and decorators can give you advice on the most suitable types of paints.
You should always wait until plaster is dry before painting. The time this will take varies depending on the room and property, but in general, it will take about a week. Your plasterer will tell you how long it is best to leave it before covering or painting their work.
