Carrbridge

Carrbridge is a village in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It lies off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the earliest rock bridge in the Highlands and also the nearby ancient pine forest contains the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge has to do with 10 km (6 mi) north of Aviemore as well as creates an entrance to the Cairngorms National Forest. It was an early centre for winter sports in Scotland. In the 2001 census the town had a population of 708 individuals, with the majority used in tourist. Until the 1980s bypass was constructed, the A9 ran straight with the village. Carrbridge is served by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Regional dispute still rages relating to the name Carrbridge itself, with some choosing to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. The word "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transportation but is stemmed from the Old Norse word for boggy location.
