Bacup

Bacup is a town in Lancashire, England, in the South Pennines near to Lancashire's border line with West Yorkshire. The town is within the Forest of Rossendale and the upper Irwell Valley, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east of Rawtenstall, 6.4 miles (10.3 km) north of Rochdale, and 21 miles (34 kilometres) east of Preston. In line with the 2011 Census, Bacup has a resident population of around 13323 inhabitants. Bacup emerged as a settlement after the Anglo-Saxon settlement of Britain in the Early Middle Ages. For centuries, it was a little and not well known centre of domestic flannel and woollen cloth manufacturing, and a lot of the original weavers' cottages survive today as listed buildings. Following the Industrial Revolution, Bacup transformed into a mill town, developing around the now covered bridge which crosses the River Irwell and the North-South / East-West crossroad at its centre. During that time, its landscape was dominated by recognisable and large rectangular woollen and cotton mills. Bacup received a charter of incorporation in 1882, which gave it municipal borough status and its own elected town government, including a mayor, aldermen and councillors to oversee local affairs. In the late 20th century, Bacup was integrated into the borough of Rossendale. Bacup's historic character, culture and festivities have led to the town's suburbanisation and redevelopment as a more cosmopolitan commuter town for Manchester as well as other North West towns and cities. Nonetheless, English Heritage has proclaimed Bacup as the most preserved cotton town in England, and its town centre is designated as a conservation area for its distinctive architectural qualities. For all your house upgrades, ensure that that you employ reputable experts in Bacup to ensure you get the best quality service.

FAQs

How do I get fuel for my LPG boiler?

If you choose to install an LPG boiler, you’ll need to find an LPG supplier. They’ll deliver fuel to you every time your storage tank runs low. You can even rent a storage tank from them if you don’t want to buy one. Make sure you know who your local suppliers are and where they are based.

What’s LPG?

LPG stands for liquid petroleum gas. It’s a by-product of refined crude oil. When it’s put under pressure, LPG turns into a liquid. It’s usually stored in this form. LPG is used as fuel for things like BBQs and camping stoves, as well as central heating.

How do I know when I need more fuel delivering for my LPG boiler?

Your LPG storage tank should have a gauge that shows you how much fuel it has in it. Most LPG suppliers suggest that you arrange a fuel delivery when the level in your tank gets down to about 20%. Make regular checks, particularly in the winter when you will use more, so you know when levels are low.

Where can I put an LPG storage tank?

Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.
