Loft conversion companies in Mold

Are you considering a loft conversion so as to open space in the house to avoid the need to move? Then make use of our free and simple service to compare quotes and get the very best price for the work you would like carried out.

Loft conversions are proving to become more popular then ever in the UK. In most properties the loft makes up unused space which would go to better use. Converting can transform the room into a bedroom, bathroom, playroom or perhaps ensuite bedroom.

In actual fact there's lots of potential to converting your attic, such as added value for your house which may be as much as 20%. Loft conversions are also advised over a property extension because the infrastructure has already been in place. Additionally, you won't be taking away any garden space.

If a loft conversion would benefit your house and you're interested in more room, compare quotes from reputable companies in Mold and get the best deal for the work you wish completed.

Mold

Mold is a town in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the administrative seat of Flintshire County Council, and was the county town of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996. According to the 2011 UK Census, it has a permanent resident population of around 10058 people. With no train service, Mold is difficult to get to by public transport. The nearest station is at Buckley, which has connections to Wrexham and Liverpool. Flint train station, to which Mold is linked by regular bus services, is not much further, and has direct trains to Cardiff, London and Manchester. During the day there are regular buses from Mold Bus Station to Chester and Wrexham as well as other nearby towns and villages. Mold has a 15th-century parish church, a modest museum and the regional arts centre, Theatre Clwyd. Sharing a building with Mold Library and Museum is Visit Flintshire, which is the primary Tourist Information Office for the town and its surroundings, and provides an outlet for regional artists and craftspeople to promote their work. Mold is a cittaslow (slow food town), and it was the very first town in Wales to obtain this distinction. Mold has a varied street market every Wednesday and Saturday for fresh produce and various other goods. For speciality and fresh local food, the Celyn Farmers' Market is hosted on the very first and 3rd Saturdays of every month in Mold. The Mold Food and Drink Festival is held each September. The food festival has a main event area on the edge of the town centre, and plenty of central and surrounding companies add to the celebration. For all your home developments, make sure to identify trustworthy specialists in Mold to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Can my loft be converted?

Many types of loft are suitable for a loft conversion. In general, you will need at least 2.3 metres of headroom in your existing loft. This is to make sure there is enough headroom after the conversion. Speak to a conversion specialist about the probability and possibility of doing this in your house.

do you need planning permission for a loft conversion?

Typically, loft conversions do not require planning permission except in certain situations. They’re usually covered under what’s known as Permitted Development. Certain building works like loft conversion, rear extension and conservatories are granted planning permission by local authorities. Permitted Development, however, gives you a free range to improve your home without having any issues from the councils or regulations. Before your planned loft conversion can be covered under Permitted Development, there are some certain criteria that must be met. This criteria includes the following:

✓ The extension must not go beyond the existing slope of the roof at the front of the house.

✓ The loft space converted must not go beyond 40 cubic metres in a terraced house.

✓ The roof’s height must not be increased by the extension.

✓ The loft space converted must not reach beyond 50 cubic metres in a detached or semi detached house.

✓ The plan for the extension mustn’t involve structures like balconies, verandas or anything other structures of this nature.

✓ The roof extension should be positioned as far back as possible or at least 20cm from the existing eaves.

✓ The side that faces the window openings should be at least 1.7m beyond the floor and the windows should also be obscured.

✓ The roof extension must not overhang the existing roof or wall of the house.

✓ The materials that are to be used must be similar or the same to the materials that has already been used on the house’s exterior.

However, you should bear in mind that there are some properties that are exempt from Permitted Development. Examples of these type of properties include conservation areas, Areas Of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage sites. Permitted Development does not also provide coverage for listed buildings.

How long will a loft conversion take?

It depends on the style and size of the conversion, but in general, a loft conversion will take between 1-2 months. A loft conversion is a substantial building project, and plans will need to be drawn up. This may add to the time it takes to complete your loft conversion.

how much is a dormer loft conversion?

Are you considering a dormer loft conversion for your home? If yes, then you’d probably want to know how much it costs. Unfortunately, due to the several variables and influencing factors, a precise answer can not be provided for all dormer loft conversions. In this article we’ll give you a vague idea of the general cost so you can set a more realistic budget and start planning.

There are three main types of loft conversion which includes the Velux, Dormer, and Mansard. Out of the three types, the dormer happens to be the most common type and possesses a small flat roofed extension with a window. The dormer loft conversion will usually cost within the range of £25,000 to £30,000.

The price for a smaller dormer loft conversion, mid range dormer loft conversion and large scale dormer loft conversion will be at £2,000 to £7,000, £10,000 to £30,000 and £40,000 to £60,000 respectively. However, you should take note that the prices given are all based on varying influencing factors such as the type of installation that is selected, the type of the rood, en suite conversion as well as other customization. Changes in price can be as a result of the materials required and the extra time per labour that’s needed to complete this home improvement project by the tradesmen employed.

Furthermore, a dormer loft conversion average cost will also depend on the type of dormer you opt for. Here is a list of the most common applications:

✓ Blind dormer loft conversion - £3,200 to £4,400

✓ Recessed dormer - £1,300 to £1,850

✓ Barrel roof dormer - £3,000 to £4,600

✓ Gable dormer - £5,500 to £7,500

✓ Hipped roof dormer - £5,600 to £6,660

✓ Pedimented dormer - £12,700 to £23,100

✓ Flat roof dormer loft conversion - £13,800 to £21,600
