Landscaping in Kenley

In search of landscaping specialists in Kenley? Our landscaping experts in Kenley are able to give you the ideal quotations for having professional landscaping carried out.

Landscaping is the expression used for when features of land are altered, typically so that they can help it become more appealing or practical. Parts that can be landscaped include gardens, fences, properties and structures.

Examples of the popular reasons for having an area landscaped include boosting the initial impression of your property, increasing health benefits and also adding value to your home.

A well maintained landscape will increase the value of your property, whilst poorly maintained gardens will see a decrease and put off potential customers. Likewise, with a range of trees, shrubs and plants you'll be able to improve air quality and also your body's healthiness.

A fantastic garden will help decrease the challenges of the day after you come back from work in the evening. A well-kept garden is a good place to rest in the summer and will enable you to unwind right after a busy day.

We can provide you up to four landscaping professionals in your neighborhood, who are able to offer quotations for the work you'd like done. You'll receive a property visit from specialists in Kenley who'll help you determine the right design for your home just before finishing the project.

Landscaping may take any duration, with respect to the size of your area and what you wish to have carried out.

Kenley

Kenley is a district in the south of the London Borough of Croydon (traditionally in Surrey). Kenley is situated 13 miles south of Charing Cross. Significant sections of Kenley lie within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Particularly, the south of Kenley is dominated by the open green areas of Kenley Common and Kenley Aerodrome. The 2011 census noted Kenley having a population of 14,966. For centuries, Kenley was part of Coulsdon Manor which covered the entire area and was mainly farm land, with a few large homes and their estates. The official opening of the railway on 4 August 1856 transformed Kenley. The new train prompted urban development. By the end of the Victorian era, Kenley had adopted its own identity. Kenley Common comprises fifty-six hectares of green open space surrounding a former Battle of Britain airfield. It is a mixture of chalk grassland and ancient forest set among carefully rolling hills. Blessed with fine views across the Caterham valley and the North Downs beyond, visitors find it tough to think that the centre of London is just 14 miles to the north. Just one of Kenley's landmark structures is the Memorial Hall. It was opened in 1922 to remember those who offered their lives in World War I. It was consequently extended and re-opened by Group Captain Douglas Bader in 1975. Hammond Innes' book Attack Alarm was based on his experiences as a Royal Artillery anti-aircraft gunner at RAF Kenley during the Battle of Britain. It includes graphic descriptions of the station and attacks on it in 1940. English Heritage defined Kenley as the "most complete fighter airfield linked to the Battle of Britain to have survived". For all your home renovations, make certain to identify trustworthy professionals in Kenley to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Do I need a gardener or landscaper?

Do I Need A Gardener Or Landscaper?

This is a question that’s often asked by most homeowners across the globe. While it’s true that both gardener and landscaper can make your garden a lot more beautiful and pleasing to the eye, it’s also crucial to know the significant difference between the two professions.

So who is a landscaper? We have two types of landscapers: the landscape architect whose job is to design a landscape and a landscape builder whose job is to do the physical requirements of creating a landscape. Both types are very interrelated such that landscape architects can also be landscape builders or have one or more of the other type in same team (as most landscaping building projects will be supervised by a landscape architect).

Now the main difference between a landscaper and a gardener is the type or scope of work they’re qualified to undertake. Generally, landscapers require just one or more types of trade licences to work, meanwhile a gardener may or may not need a trade licence. So who is a gardener?

It’s the job of a gardener to come in and maintain the landscape garden once the landscape has successfully built the outdoor area. In other words, it’s part of a gardener’s services to prune plants, mow the lawns, do the weeding, fertilize your soil and much more. It’s not their job to construct a large retaining wall or a gazebo. And you can also be sure they won’t appear with a backhoe ready to sculpt your landscape.

Overall, deciding who to choose between a gardener and a landscape depends on the type or scope of work that’s required. With the aforementioned differences, you should be able to easily determine who to call when in need of a landscaping or gardening service.

What is landscape gardening?

What Is Landscape Gardening?

Landscape gardening is basically the art of setting out grounds or planting of ornamental plants so that a picturesque effect is created. In other words, it can be seen as the beautification or decoration of a portion of land to generate a naturalistic effect in a limited space. However, it should also be noted that landscape gardening meant to beautify places, but also important and very functional as our surroundings make a whole lot of contribution to the quality of our lives. Landscape is a word that’s not only used to qualify an beautiful scenery, but also stands for a great historical records of natural features created by human activities over time. So what are the general principles of landscaping?

• The right landscape garden should express some thought or feeling, just like a good landscape painting. The expression can be bold, quiet, retired and more.

• The landscape garden area should be divided into various sections with a plan for each individual area. The whole plan should be actualized in such a way that an observer or visitor can imagine the entire plan and purpose without having to analyse each parts.

• It’s of great importance to combine both beauty and utility effectively.

• The design’s simplicity should be emphasized while executing the plan.

• The garden and building should perfect blend with each other in such a way that they could be seen as one rather than the landscape garden stopping abruptly in front of the building. The view of the garden from the building’s door or window should offer an breath taking scenery. In short, every part of the landscape should be planned so that every visitor will have a surprising effect when seen.

• The ideal landscape should not be too tight and should possess an open space.

• Do not overcrowd the plants and objects.

How much is it to landscape a garden?

How Much To Landscape A Garden?

Also known as a nation of gardeners, the UK is filled with individuals who take their outdoors seriously. As a result, it’s little surprise many people over here employ the services of expert landscape gardeners to help out with various tasks such as decking, building patios, ponds and reshaping their gardens to keep them in a top condition and make them a lot more useful. However, before you get started with your landscape gardening task, you’d like to figure out a estimate of the amount it’s going to cost. Let’s have a look!

Providing an accurate assessment of a generic landscape gardening project is almost impossible as gardens are all unique. A total refurbishment of a big garden will definitely run into thousands of pounds even before accounting for essential items like garden furnitures and planting. We’ll break them down to smaller elements of landscape gardening and give a rough estimate of the cost.

Firstly, a patio is an effective means of increasing your garden’s usability whose cost varies depending on the materials used. Generally, a patio will cost within the range of £70 to £90. This price may be higher in areas with greater demands like London.

A decking also serves the same purposes as a patio or paved area. However, it’s usually made of wood which delivers a much more natural feel perfect for the garden. The cost of decking varies largely depending on the wood incorporated. For instance, if you opt for a cheaper wood such as pine, the cost you can expect to pay would be within the range of 60 pounds to 80 pounds per square metre. However, for more quality and durable hardwood, you’ll have to pay about 200 pounds per square metre or more.

How to plan a landscape garden?

How To Plan A Landscape Garden

If you’ve decided to go for a landscape garden, this might imply putting in new gardens entirely or probably just coming up with a planting plan for the current year. However, because you want a beautiful landscape garden doesn’t mean you can just go out, get a couple of plants and decide to plant them anywhere that looks good to you once you get home.

For a much better landscape garden, doing some proper landscape garden planning can go a long way to help you get the results you desire. So how do you plan a landscape garden?

• Set Goals

The first step is to determine how you want the garden to feel and look, how it’s going to be used or what’s going to be used for as well as how you’ll work to boost the small ecosystem.

• Site Plan

Identify what you already have on the site like the plants, paths, gardens etc, and draw them out perhaps on a graph paper. Once done, you can make some photocopies and start playing with different ideas.

• Site Analysis

Carry out an in depth site analysis to identify the areas that’s sunny and shady areas as well as the ones in between. This way, you can figure out the best place to put the plants and other items.

• Functional Diagrams

This is stage at which you go through both the site plan as well as site analysis and start to identify the right spots to position the landscape garden’s items.

• Planting Plan

Here, you’ll decide which plants you’ll like to use on your landscape garden while also identifying what plant goes where. You’ll have to draw them at size close to what they’ll grow to become, so as to ensure there’s sufficient space for them once they grow big and tall.
