Redbridge
The London Borough of Redbridge is a London borough in North-East London, England. The borough was formed in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 as a merger of the former area of Ilford, Dagenham, Wanstead and Woodford and Chigwell Urban District. Its administrative headquarters is at Redbridge Town Hall in Ilford. The local authority is Redbridge London Borough Council. Redbridge is a borough that covers a total of 21.78 square miles. The borough is generally known as the 'leafy suburb' with a quarter of the borough covered by forest and green.
According to population estimates produced part way through 2014, the borough features a permanent population of about 293055 inhabitants.|Redbridge has the third highest proportion of children in addition to a higher-than-average proportion of older adults whilst the proportion of working age adults is slightly lower than average. Three quarters of homes are owner-occupied.
Redbridge is 1 of London's greenest Boroughs, with greater than 35 parks, playgrounds and open spaces to enjoy. These include Hainault Forest Country Park, featuring 300 acres of countryside which includes adventure play areas, cafe and a petting zoo; Roding Valley Park, a wildlife sanctuary with a wide array of flora and fauna and woodland areas to explore; and Fairlop Waters Country Park, which presents a huge selection of activities both on and off the water.|The award-winning Valentines Park is situated next to the stunning Valentines Mansion, ornamental gardens, bowling green and outside gym among other attractions.
The borough is specifically well-known for its award-winning parks, six of which have attained the prestigious Green Flag Award, and open spaces, exceptional transport links, thriving shopping locations and high-performing schools.
