When it was developed, the Holy House in Walsingham was panelled with wood and also consisted of a wooden statuary of an enthroned Virgin Mary with the youngster Jesus seated on her lap. Amongst its relics was a phial of the Virgin's milk. Walsingham turned into one of north Europe's great locations of expedition and stayed so with most of the Middle Ages.
