St Columb
St Columb Major is a community and also civil parish in Cornwall, England, UK. Commonly described locally as St Columb, it is roughly seven miles (11 km) southwest of Wadebridge and six miles (10 km) eastern of Newquay. The designation Major identifies it from the neighboring negotiation and parish of St Columb Minor on the shore. An electoral ward simply called St Columb exists with a population at the 2011 census of 5,050. Twice a year the town plays host to "hurling", a medieval video game once typical throughout Cornwall now just played in St Columb and also St Ives. It is played on Shrove Tuesday and afterwards once again on the Saturday eleven days later.
