Hebburn is a town resting on the south bank of the River Tyne in North East England, positioned between the towns of Jarrow and Bill Quay. According to the 2011 Census, it has a population of 18808. The town was initially a part of County Durham, with the name believed to come from Old English, denoting 'high burial mount'. Athletics is an activity that is frequently taken part in and viewed as a result of the Monkton Stadium, which hosts the Hebburn Athletic Club. In 2012, the BBC commissioned a tv series called 'Hebburn', which was set in the town. Jason Cook, the show's creator and co-writer, lived in Hebburn as he was growing up.
