Smart Thermostat in Beaconsfield

Managing the way your home is heated is one of the better ways to cut back expensive energy bills and leave you with much more disposable income at the end of each month. Of course, 60% of your energy bill is from heating the household, so it's undoubtedly an excellent place to start.

With the right controls you'll be able to keep your property at a comfy temperature, while simultaneously not losing more money on fuel. You'll also be able to keep your household carbon emissions down as well.

The good news is, heating control systems may be used with just about any boiler, no matter what the model or age. This signifies there's a saving to be made if you go out there and get it.

By setting up a heating management system you will save between £70 and £150 each and every year. On top of this there are plenty of CO2 emissions to be reduced also and you'll cut between 310kg and 630kg every year.

Also think about the temperature you have your thermostat fixed on. By just switching it down only one degree, you can save up to £75 per year and won't feel a difference in temperature either.

Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield is a market town and civil parish in the South Buckingham district of Buckinghamshire, positioned 23.6 miles (38 km) north west of London and 17 miles (27 kilometres) south east of the county's administrative town, Aylesbury. 4 towns are within five miles of Beaconsfield: Slough, Amersham, Gerrards Cross and High Wycombe. It covers an area of 7.59 square miles. In line with the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of roughly 12,000 individuals. The parish church at the crossroads of Old Beaconsfield is dedicated to St. Mary, and it was rebuilt of flint and bath stone by the Victorians in 1869. The United Reformed Church in Beaconsfield can trace its roots of non-conformist worship in the town back to 1704. Old Beaconsfield has several old coaching inns along a wide street of red brick homes and modest shops. It was the first coach stopping place on the road in between London and Oxford. An annual fair is traditionally held on 10th May. Its charter, granted in 1269, originally allowed for an annual market for trading goods and livestock, but it has now transformed into a funfair, erected for 1 day only. In the last few years, some residents have opposed the fair as a hindrance to the Old Town, and have called for the 735 year-old fair to be stopped. The town is adjacent to the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has a wide area of Georgian, neo-Georgian and Tudor revival high street architecture, referred to as the Old Town. It's celebrated for the first model village in the world and, in education, a direction and technical production institute, the National Film and Television School. For all of your home improvement jobs, make certain that you use trustworthy pros in Beaconsfield to ensure that you get the very best quality service.

FAQs

do smart thermostats need wifi?

The short answer to this is no! Smart thermostats can still be used without WiFi, however, they’ll be deprived of some certain capabilities and innovative features that comes mainly due to their ability to connect to the internet. As a result, the smart thermostat will only be functional for basic task such as heating and cooling control. In other words, making use of a WiFi connection will be in your best bet to enjoy the multiple juicy benefits that comes with a smart thermostats such as remote monitoring, ability to connect to other devices and display local weather conditions and much more. And what’s the use of purchasing a smart thermostat if you’d not be able to enjoy these remarkable features?

However, even when you have a WiFi, it’s expected for the connection to fail at times. When this happens, what will be the impact on your smart thermostat? Let’s have a closer look!

• As you would have expected, when your smart thermostat is disconnected from WiFi, features that are controlled with the mobile app would all be impacted. And this might be a big headache when you wish to access these features and control remotely when far away from home.

• When your smart thermostat connection to WiFi fails, all live updates and alerts would be affected. This implies that you’d stop seeing updates, reports and notifications on your mobile device. As a result, you’ll not be notified in case of an emergency like electricity cut-outs, water leaks, humidity and temperatures exceeding the set levels as well as thermostat’s low battery.

• The lack of a WiFi connection might have taken away all the juicy advantages of having a smart thermostat, but one function that remains unaffected is the basic one - the control of your home’s heating and cooling system. In other words, if your smart thermostat is offline, your home will still be heated and cooled to the thermostat’s set temperature.

how to install hive thermostat?

The Hive thermostat stand is relatively easy to install, however if you lack the necessary training or experience, this is a task you might want to leave to a professional to guarantee the best result while also saving you money and time. This guide will give you a good insight into the Hive thermostat installation process.

The installation of a Hive thermostat does require it to be connected to your home boiler. For this reason we always recommend you get a professional to install it. However once install the Hive Smart Thermostat is very easy to operate and move the controller around your home. To get started, you can follow these steps:

• Press the lever at the lower side of the thermostat and pull away from the front to detach the back plate of your device.

• Once done, simply hang the thermostat on the stand back plate and ensure it holds firmly in place

When it comes to Hive thermostat installation, you might also want to consider the positioning of the device in such a way to heat your home even more efficiently as its designed to be very sensitive to temperature. To identify the best spot for your Hive thermostat, let’s take a look at some of the dos and don’ts.

A Few Dos:

• Do maintain the position of your Hive Thermostat to keep a stable connection with the receive and Hive Hub.

• Do ensure that the position chosen is the centre of your home or a frequently used room.

• Do place the thermostat about 1 to 1.5 metres from floor.

• Do ensure that your thermostat is in a close proximity with the hub and receiver for a better functionality.

A Few Don’ts:

• Don’t place your Hive thermostat stand close to radiators, direct sunlight or other heat sources,

• Don’t position your device near or at places that can expoerience a sudden change in temperature such as the front or back door.

• Don’t leave your thermostat too close to curtains or ornaments.

can you use hive with an oil boiler?

Smart controls such as Hive are the next generation technology with more and more people now converting their houses into smart homes to control multiple devices in the homes remotely. Smart technology can be incorporated with several household devices such as security, lighting, entertainment and more. But what if there’s an oil boiler installed in your home, can you still connect your Hive with the your heating? Well, simply read on to find out.

The answer to this question is yes, most oil boilers are compatible with Hive and can substitute for either an existing conventional programmer or thermostat. The smart technology works to help derive more benefits from your heating system and they usually come with apps which can be used to control your home’s heating from anywhere with just your mobile device. Hive, however, cannot work to replace the functions of smart oil boiler heating controls to modulate your heating as they only work on an on or off basis. To make use of the modulating technology in an oil boiler, the cost of manufacture would be considerably higher while offering little advantage in efficiency for the home or property owner. Ultimately, this implies that you can’t incorporate smart technology to control the output in a similar way as a gas boiler, but there are still some ways to utilize smart technology with your oil boiler in such a way to boost your efficiency and lessen the energy bills.

Do you want to use your Hive with your home’s oil boiler? We’d advise you get in touch with an OFTEC qualified engineer if you wish to install Hive Active Heating on your oil boiler, as British Gas engineer do not offer this service.
