One of the main advantages with a garage conversion is the space can be changed quickly for the additional room you'll need, whether or not it's for a growing family or simply just to add to the value of your property.
A garage conversion means you won't need to relocate for extra space, which will help save thousands of pounds on solicitor fees, estate agent payments and stamp duty. And the extra space could be converted into whatever you need, no matter whether it's an extension to the living area or kitchen, or perhaps a separate room completely.
With the infrastructure already in position it's evident that a garage conversion is going to be less costly than constructing an extension as well, and won't eat valuable space in your garden. With the exterior not likely to change too, it's an alternative way to get around rules for conservation areas and listed buildings.
If you are serious about transforming your garage, compare prices from companies within Hailsham using our quick and easy service to get the best offer available.

Hailsham is a civil parish and the largest of the five towns that form the Wealden region of East Sussex. With a population of just over 20000 and around 8500 residential properties, it is also the largest inland town in East Sussex. Hailsham lies 7 miles north of Eastourne, 19 miles south of Tunbridge Wells, 14 miles west of Hastings and 11 miles east of the town of Lewes. Being 6 miles from the coast and in between the heavily wooded hills of the southern Forest Ridge and the countryside of the South Downs, the town is surrounded by enticing and untapped scenery. Hailsham's traditional business was rope making, which involved producing and providing ropes for public hanging to Great Britain and the Colonies. Despite the decline of the industry, light industry continues in two large industrial estates located in the town. The Heritage Centre in Blackman's Yard, run by members of the Hailsham Historical and Natural History Society, enables visitors to access the town's past through the use of photos and artefacts. Display screens showing kitchens, farming, agriculture, regional industry and wartime memorabilia try to offer a sense of the town's history over the past hundred years. Hailsham has a vast array of local and nationwide shops, restaurants and numerous supermarkets. Many of these can be found in the Quintins shopping centre, which was opened in the late 1980s. Another popular tourist attraction for residents and visitors is the marketplace based in Vicarage Field, created in 2013 as one of Hailsham Town Team's major initiatives. For all of your house upgrades, make certain to make use of respected professionals in Hailsham to make certain of quality.

Most companies will make the building control application on your behalf and ensure that all the work is completed to the right standards. When a building inspector has inspected it, you’ll get a certificate. It usually takes around 6-8 weeks after completion to come.
Are you thinking about converting your garage into a new space? Be it a new bedroom, gym, library or playroom, one thing you’ll have to consider before getting started is whether or not you’re going to require a planning permission. Unlike extensions that needs additional space, garage conversion is all about changing the existing structure of a space that’s already available to you - your garage. As a result, these projects are mostly covered by a planning policy that’s a bit different.
For a garage conversion, it’s very unlikely that you’ll need a planning permission. As a matter of fact, only 10 percent of garage conversions has been estimated to need a full planning permission, with the others coming under the permitted development rights. The permitted development rights, however, only provides coverage for home improvements that’s internal which implies that so far you’re not trying to enlarge your garage, you’ll not require a planning permission. But if otherwise, you’ll have to submit an application before commencing your project.
If you’re looking to comply with the permitted development rights, then your project must comply with some specific guidelines. These rules include the following:
• The work should be internal. No plans to enlarge or extend the existing garage.
• You should make sure that the materials used in carrying out the garage conversion is the same with the materials used in building the existing house.
• The building should not be extended.
You may, however, require a planning permission if you’re going to change a detached garage into a living space which could be a bedroom, small annexe or a living room.
Some houses excluded from the permitted development rights include flats, listed buildings, some new developments and most homes in a conservation area.
Garage conversion is a great way to add extra usable space to your home without having to extend your property. A fun fact is that, in the UK if you have your car parked in the garage, you’re in the minority. According to a research carried out by Admiral Loans, just about 33 percent of home owners in the UK store their cars in the garage. For most people the garage is literally a dumping ground that’s never fully utilized as such. In recent times, the garage is now being used to store a variety of other stuffs asides a car which includes garden furniture, tools and appliances, utilities such as washing machine, fridge and freezer as well as food and groceries. These facts show that more and more people are underutilizing their garage when they may actually be in need of more usable space in their property. So why not put into consideration converting the garage into a new space that would be able to serve more purpose?
If you’ve decided to convert your garage, you’d probably want to know the how long the project will take. There are a wide range of factors that can determine the duration of a garage conversion project. These factors include:
• If the foundation needs reinforcing
• If the floors, walls, or roofs are in a bad condition.
• If the ceiling height needs some raising
• If the insulation required in newer builds.
All aforementioned factors will make the garage conversion project take longer than expected. However, in normal situations garage conversions are relatively quick to complete once you start the building works. A single-car conversion will usually take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete depending on the existing garage’s structure.
