If you have an rarely used garage area, why not consider a conversion within Bathgate to make the most from your home. Review around 4 totally free quotations with our service and find the very best price for a conversion.

One of the major advantages with a garage conversion is the space can be changed quickly for the additional room you need, whether or not it's for a growing family or simply just to add to the value of your home.

A garage conversion suggests you won't have to move for extra space, which could save you a lot of money on solicitor charges, estate agent payments and stamp duty. And the extra space can be converted into what you need, no matter if it's an extension to the living area or kitchen, or a separate room entirely.

With the infrastructure already in position it's evident that a garage conversion will be cheaper than building an extension too, and won't consume important space within your garden. With the outside not likely to change as well, it's an alternative way to get around restrictions for conservation areas and also listed buildings.

If you are thinking about remodeling your garage, look at prices from companies within Bathgate working with our quick service to get the best offer available.

Bathgate

The town of Bathgate is located in West Lothian, in Scotland. It's positioned on the M8 motorway, five miles west of Livingston. As per the 2011 Census, Bathgate has a resident population of around 20,363. The town is to the south of the ancient Neolithic burial site at Carnipapple Hill, and there is evidence of settlements at Bathgate from around 3500 BC. Bathgate was an industrial town for the duration of the industrial age. It was the home of Menzies' Foundry and British Leyland. There were two train stations during this time - Bathgate North and Bathgate South. A link operating from one station to the other was established for the purpose of the coal mining industries and also the foundries. Only one railway still exists, the Bathgate Railway Station, which has frequent trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Because of the closure of lots of the industries in West Lothian by the middle of the 20th century, the town was part of a Special Development Area, which led to the town's necessary redevelopment. Those living in Bathgate enjoy a wide selection of shops, that are considerable contributors to the local economy. Opened at the end of the nineteenth century, the Co-operative halls historically served the community, being the home to a bakery, a butchers, a funeral parlour, grocery, clothing and furniture stores, as well as a dance hall. In spite of its closure in the 1980s, there is a range of local and commercial chain retailers. Bathgate has been home to a variety of famous people, for example, Sir James Young Simpson, a doctor who experimented with chloroform to discover it had anaesthetic qualities that may be employed through childbirth, and David Tennant, a famous British actor. For all of your house improvement work, make certain that you utilise trusted specialists in Bathgate to ensure you get the best quality service.

FAQs

how much does a garage conversion cost?

Are you looking to create some more space in your home with your garage being almost dispensable? If yes, then considering a garage conversion project may be the way to go. Unlike many other extension options, garage conversion does not take up an additional space as it only changes the current structure of the garage. As a result, the cost of completing a garage conversion project can be relatively attractive when compared to other space creating alternatives. So exactly how much would a garage conversion project cost? Well, there’s no precise answer for this as several influencing factors come to play. However, in this guide we’ll give you a rough idea of the average costs that you’re likely going to encounter. Some of the factors that can influence your budget dramatically includes the following:

• The size of the conversion. The larger the size of the garage per square feet, the more cost you’ll have to expend.

• The type of your property - listed buildings are usually more expensive.

• Your location in the UK. If you stay in London where there’s a higher demand, you’ll most likely pay more.

• You’re likely to pay more if a specialist knowledge is required.

• The amount of glazing to be installed

• Quality of the materials to be incorporated.

• Quality of the professional to carry out the installation service.

On average, when it comes to garage conversion projects, you’re likely to pay the following depending on the per square metre given:

• A single garage of about 15 square metre will cost within the range of £6,000 to £15,000.

• A double garage of about 30 square metre will cost within the range of £12,000 to £30,000.

do you need an architect for a garage conversion?
Have you decided to convert that under-utilized space ( garage) in your home to a more habitable space where you can do anything asides general storage or parking a car? If yes, then you’d probably want to know where to start or if you’d require an architect to get started. Well, you’re not alone! This is one of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to garage conversions and reasonably so. Talking about where to get started, when it comes to home improvement projects the first step to take is determining whether or not you’d require a planning permission or if your proposed garage conversion is covered under permitted development rights. Once you’ve been able to conclude on that, the next step is deciding whether you’re going to complete the project yourself, hire the services of tradesmen or employing a builder. And this ultimately brings us to the question of whether you’ll need an architect for a garage conversion. To get started, it’s highly recommended that you employ the services of a professional architect or an architectural technologist to assist in designing your garage conversion. However, most garage conversion projects are straightforward with no complex changes to be made so far you wish to avoid applying for a planning permission and staying within the set guidelines of the permitted development rights. In such events, if you’re properly trained and well experienced in the field, then it may be cost effective to design your garage conversion by yourself. It should, however, be noted that it all depends on your personal preferences and budget. If you’re on tight budget and don’t mind a straightforward design, you can save cost by not hiring an architect.
Will the company deal with the building control application?

Most companies will make the building control application on your behalf and ensure that all the work is completed to the right standards. When a building inspector has inspected it, you’ll get a certificate. It usually takes around 6-8 weeks after completion to come.

Will my garage conversion cause disruption to the rest of the house?

It shouldn’t do. Most companies will do all the interior work first, and the last job to do will be creating the opening from the house to the conversion. A reputable company will make sure they cause as little disruption as possible during this time.
