Bognor Regis
Bognor Regis is a seaside resort town and civil parish in the traditional county of Sussex on the south coast of England. Administratively, it is within the Arun district of the non-metropolitan county of West Sussex, and suburbs of the town are the villages of Felpham, Alwick, and North and South Bersted. While the town experiences an oceanic climate which is comparable to the rest of the United Kingdom, it boasts over 1900 hours of sunshine on average, which is the highest recorded annual level of sunshine in Britain. Its coastal location also prevents intense temperatures. Since 1960, the temperatures recorded at Bognor have never fallen below -9.4C or risen above 31.5 Celsius, in comparison with other areas inside the Sussex Weald falling below -15C and rising above 35 Celsius. From 1864, numerous wealthy Victorian households appeared in the town and a seaside resort was subsequently established by Sir Richard Hotham. Since the beginning of the 1930s, an amusement park as well as a zoo have been established, and a vacation camp in the 1960s has led the town towards more hotel accommodation with modern day amenities. The population of Bognor steadily grown over the course of the 20th century, being at around 64,000 in the 2011 census. The post-war period witnessed partial commercial redevelopment, especially in the 1960s following the construction of a new shopping parade, health centre and high-rise block of flats. The town centre is largely pedestrian friendly, creating an incredibly accessible shopping experience for the town's residents and tourists.
