Flooring Renovation in Edenbridge

Renovating floors may entail a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The kind of renovation work will depend upon the sort of the pre-existing flooring. In older homes with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will often involve repair and cleaning of the existing floor as it will likely be a desirable feature of the house. In newer homes with carpet or hardwood floors, renovation is more likely to involve completely exchanging the current floors, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the procedure of renovation commonly consists of sanding the top layer of hardwood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles swapped, accompanied by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will frequently require replacing the carpet. Professional floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools may also be necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.

Edenbridge

Edenbridge is a town and civil parish in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, England. Its name derives from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (definition "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey verge on the upper floodplain of the River Medway and gives its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was constructed in the early 2000s to relieve web traffic stress on the old, narrow High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are two banks in the community, a post office beside the church as well as a number of major retail chains. In spite of being a reasonably village, Edenbridge boasts its very own hospital - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. At first a home hospital built to take care of soldiers returning from The First World War, a function constructed building was established to the south of the community in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physiotherapy facilities and also a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a major part of the fabric of the community. Recently the medical facility has been faced with closure sometimes, on each event it has been saved by neighborhood campaigners as well as townspeople, that see the medical facility as a vital part of the area.

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
