In most areas, you will not need planning permission. However, if the property is listed or in a conservation area, you will need listed building consent or planning permission to paint the exterior. A surveyor or architect's advice will be invaluable as they can help with this process.
Sanquhar
Sanquhar is a town on the River Nith in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It lies north of Thornhill and also west of Moffat. It is a former Royal Burgh. Sanquhar is notable for its small post office, established in 1712 and held to be the earliest working post office on the planet. It was also the place where the Covenanters, that opposed episcopalisation of the church, signed the Sanquhar Declaration relinquishing their obligation to the King, an event celebrated by a monument in the main street. The church of St Brides has a memorial to James Crichton, a 16th-century polymath. The damages of Sanquhar Castle stand nearby. Nithsdale Wanderers, the local team, were created in 1897. In 1924-- 25, Wanderers won the Scottish Division 3.
