Edenbridge is a community as well as civil parish in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, England. Its name originates from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (definition "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey approach the top floodplain of the River Medway as well as offers its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was integrated in the very early 2000s to alleviate website traffic stress on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are 2 banks in the town, a post office alongside the church as well as a variety of major retail chains. In spite of being a reasonably town, Edenbridge flaunts its very own hospital - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. Originally a cottage medical facility built to care for soldiers returning from The First World War, an objective built building was established to the south of the community in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physiotherapy facilities and a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a huge part of the textile of the community. In recent times the healthcare facility has been confronted with closure many times, on each occasion it has been saved by neighborhood campaigners as well as townspeople, who see the medical facility as a crucial part of the community.
