With the rise in gas and electricity rates, strengthening household energy efficiency is becoming ever more important. And are you aware your central heating boiler accounts for around 60% of your annual energy expenses?
This means that if it's inefficient, as countless central heating boilers are in the UK, you'll be throwing away hundreds of pounds year after year. Inefficient boilers perform at just 70%, whilst a replacement ECO boiler would most likely perform at about 95%.
And with the ECO boiler scheme you'll benefit from a free replacement combi boiler. The scheme is aimed at the country's most vulnerable households, so you need to meet specific criteria.
Would you like an ECO boiler in Wakefield? With a brand new boiler you'll immediately reduce your energy bills and be able to make sure your home's warmer throughout the year.
If you want an ECO boiler, complete our quick form to determine if you're eligible for a free of charge replacement in Wakefield. Even if you don't meet the criteria it's still advised to replace your old boiler system.
The regular cost of replacing your gas boiler is £2,500. Costs vary based upon the type and brand of boiler you choose as well as the business you decide to go with. For example, a small local business may be able to offer a better price than a large national company as they will have fewer overheads. Itâs best to get a range of quotes from different boiler engineers so you can compare prices, reviews and references before going ahead.

Source: Numbers calculated based on the search volumes in major search enginesThe city of Wakefield carries a large populace of 325,000 and it is located in West Yorkshire within the North of England. Like a lot of the north was, Wakefield features a background within the mining industry and during the Seventies had as many as 21 sites in the area. The closures in the Eighties left a large unemployment burden on the city and its encompassing areas but nowadays Wakefield prospers from a below-average level. House prices have substantially increased from an average of £50,000 to £130,000 between 1998 and 2003. To keep your Wakefield property within the top end of the market make sure to employ trustworthy tradespeople for any home improvements needed.

Re-pressurising your boiler means that you allow more water to enter system via the filling loop. It can be easy to re-pressurise your boiler yourself. Always check your manual, but there are some simple steps you can take to restore pressure to your boiler:
• Switch off your boiler and let it cool completely
• Make sure both ends of your filling loop are attached
• Open both valves to allow cold water into the system – you’ll hear it start to move
• Look out for your pressure gauge to show 1.5 bar
• Close both valves
• Switch your boiler back on
• Undo both ends of your filling loop and remove it. Remember some water might come out, so be ready to catch some spillage!
The size of boiler you need will depend on the size of your home, how many radiators and bathrooms you have and how many people live there. The boiler size refers to its output, which is measured in kilowatts (kW), rather than the actual dimensions. Speak to your boiler engineer about which boiler is suitable for you, as if you have more than one bathroom or a lot of people in your home a combi boiler might not suit you. Other boiler types such as system boilers or conventional boilers may be better suited to larger homes because they have bigger outputs.
A boiler is simply the most important part of a central heating system as it generates the heat that warms up the home or property. Basically, the appliance or small furnace makes use of gas, LPG or oil in order to fuel its operation. However in the UK, most boilers are usually fuelled by natural gas which is supplied automatically from the national gas grid. And depending on how it operates, there are various types of boilers.
Typically, a gas central heating boiler will have multiple pipes entering from underneath. While one pipe supplies the boiler with gas from the mains gas supply, another pipe allows cold water to enter the boiler to be heated, the last pipe then enables hot water to exit the boiler so it can be distributed around the home.
✓ There are fuel jets and heat exchangers inside the boiler. When the heating is turned on, a valve is opened to allow the mains supply gas to enter a sealed combustion chamber in the boiler. There are multiple little valves which permit the entry of the gas before being ignited by an electric ignition switch. These jets heat a metal component in the boiler known as a heat exchanger which works to transfer the heat to the cold water pipe and heat up the water.
✓ Once the water has been heated to the target temperature, it’s then pumped through a circuit of pipe which runs around your home by an electric pump.
✓ The heated water enter each radiator, is then transmitted via a closed loop and radiates heat into each room.
✓ Once done travelling through all radiators, the water then returns to the boiler at which it must have been cooled. Therefore, the boiler will have to reheat following the same process before circulating. The water can only be drained by a professional Gas Safe engineer
If you’re thinking about getting a new gas boiler for your home or property, then you might also be wondering how much it’ll cost you so you can set a budget and start planning. As simple as this question sounds, it’s actually very tricky to provide a simple and short answer as the costs of installing a new gas boiler alone varies greatly based on the parts needed, the amount of work required, your location, their availability as well as the company you hire for the project.
When it comes to purchasing a new gas boiler the price you’re expected to pay also depends on multiple influencing factors such as the type, brand as well as your most preferred gas boiler model. However, one thing you should have in mind is the fact that your gas boiler is right at the heart of your home or property and can be a complicated piece of machinery. As a result, you wouldn’t expect gas boilers to come cheap. Generally, it’s going to cost within the range of £500 to about £2,500 to get a new gas boiler. Therefore, it’s always advisable to obtain all necessary details and facts before you decide to purchase a replacement gas boiler.
This price range may seem too high as it’s usually a turn off for most homeowners. However, it’s worth noting that gas boiler replacement costs and gas boiler installation costs are, more often than not, compensated by the saving you’ll make off your utility bills - all thanks to the new and more energy efficient boiler you just installed in your home. And even more importantly, when it has been estimated that roughly half of the amount spent on energy on an annual basis depends on your boiler.
