The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is a borough in southwest London, England. The principle town is Kingston upon Thames and it consists of Surbiton, Chessington, New Malden, Tolworth and part of Worcester Park. It is the oldest of the 4 Royal Boroughs in England. The others are Kensington and Chelsea and Greenwich also in London, and Windsor and Maidenhead. The borough covers an overall area of roughly 14.38 square miles.
In accordance with population estimates during the middle of 2014, Kingston upon Thames has a permanent population of about 169958 people. Kingston is one of 5 London Boroughs which have no London Underground station. It has nine National Rail stations and two centrally located bus stations. In 2008, 64 bus routes served Kingston. In March 2011, the primary types of transport that residents utilised to travel to work were driving a car or van, used by 26.1 percent of all residents aged 16-74 and train, utilised by 7.1 per cent, and bus, minibus or coach, used by 7.1 per cent.
Kingston has a lot of attractions in and close to it, ranging from nature attractions and historical attractions to theme parks. This includes Richmond Park, that is one of the world's biggest urban parks, and three times the size of Central Park in New York City.
