With the increase in gas and electricity rates, increasing home energy efficiency has grown to become more and more important. And are you aware your boiler accounts for around 60% of your annual energy bill?

This means that if it's inefficient, as thousands of central heating boilers are in Britain, you'll be losing hundreds of pounds each and every year. Inefficient boilers can work at just 70%, whilst a replacement ECO boiler would perform at around 95%.

And with the ECO central heating boiler scheme you'll benefit from a free replacement central heating boiler. The scheme is aimed at the country's most insecure households, which means you must fulfill particular criteria.

Would you like an ECO boiler in Boscastle? With a new central heating boiler you'll instantly reduce your energy bills and then make certain your home's warmer all through the year.

If you want an ECO boiler, complete our quick form to determine if you're qualified for a cost-free replacement in Boscastle. Even if you don't fit the criteria it's still recommended to switch your outdated central heating boiler system.

Boscastle

Boscastle is a town and also angling port on the north coastline of Cornwall, England, UK, in the civil parish of Forrabury and Minster (where the 2011 Census population was included). It is 14 miles (23 km) south of Bude and also 5 miles (8 kilometres) northeast of Tintagel. The harbour is an all-natural inlet protected by two stone harbour walls constructed in 1584 by Sir Richard Grenville and also is the only considerable harbour for 20 miles (32 kilometres) along the shore. The village extends up the valleys of the River Valency and River Jordan. Heavy rainfall on 16 August 2004 caused substantial damage to the village. Boscastle lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The South West Coast Path travels through the town. The village, with its stunning harbour, is a prominent traveler location. Among the attractions are the Museum of Witchcraft, Uncle Paul's Emporium, the Boscastle ceramic store, as well as access to the South West Coast Path. Much of the land around Boscastle is possessed by the National Trust, consisting of both sides of the harbour, Forrabury Stitches, high above the Boscastle as well as divided into old "stitchmeal" farming plots, and large areas of the Valency Valley, known for its links to Thomas Hardy. The former harbour stables (part of the National Trust estate) are currently a youth hostel run by YHA, popular with walkers. The National Trust runs a patronize the harbour, as well as a visitor centre in the Old Smithy.

    FAQs

What size boiler do I need?

The size of boiler you need will depend on the size of your home, how many radiators and bathrooms you have and how many people live there. The boiler size refers to its output, which is measured in kilowatts (kW), rather than the actual dimensions. Speak to your boiler engineer about which boiler is suitable for you, as if you have more than one bathroom or a lot of people in your home a combi boiler might not suit you. Other boiler types such as system boilers or conventional boilers may be better suited to larger homes because they have bigger outputs.

    How do I re-pressurise a boiler?

Re-pressurising your boiler means that you allow more water to enter system via the filling loop. It can be easy to re-pressurise your boiler yourself. Always check your manual, but there are some simple steps you can take to restore pressure to your boiler:

    • Switch off your boiler and let it cool completely

    • Make sure both ends of your filling loop are attached

    • Open both valves to allow cold water into the system – you’ll hear it start to move

    • Look out for your pressure gauge to show 1.5 bar

    • Close both valves

    • Switch your boiler back on

    • Undo both ends of your filling loop and remove it. Remember some water might come out, so be ready to catch some spillage!

How does the A-G gas boiler rating system work?

The A-G scale refers to the energy efficiency of your boiler. G-rated boilers are the least efficient, and give you less heat and hot water for your money. Installing an A-rated boiler will reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions. Don't compromise on cheaper, lower rated boilers, you will save yourself more money longer term with an A-rated model.

how long does a gas boiler last?

When it comes to gas boilers, this is one of the most frequent questions that always pops up and for a good reason. When you invest a considerable amount of money to acquire and install a gas boiler in your home or property, it’s only reasonable not only to expect the boiler to warm up your home efficiently, but also to do so for a long period of time. If you’ve just bought or about to get a new gas boiler, it’s likely you won’t have to worry about getting a replacement for a lengthy period of time. Several gas boilers will last for anywhere between 10 to 15 years on the average. However in the event whereby you have an existing one that’s fast approaching the end of it’s useful life, then you should know the time go get a new gas boiler is just around the corner, and the earlier you make the purchase, the better (to avoid any surprise breakdowns that’ll leave your home super uncomfortable).

Just like any other home appliance, it’s a fact that an older gas boiler ( especially those that have been installed over a decade ago) are significantly less efficient that the new modern ones. When the older versions were manufactured is a completely different time to now as both technology and climate concerns are wide apart. So when your existing boiler is approaching the end of it’s useful life, it’ll be wise to start saving up to cover the cost of getting a new one. However, if it’s only about 5 years ago your boiler was installed, it’s highly likely to still be very efficient.
