Tayport
Tayport, additionally called Ferry-Port on Craig, is a town and burgh, as well as parish, in the area of Fife, Scotland, functioning as a traveler community for Dundee. The slogan of the Burgh is Te oportet alte ferri ("It is incumbent on you to carry on your own high"), a word play here on Tayport at auld Tay Ferry. Tayport lies close to the north eastern pointer of Fife. To the north it looks across the River Tay to Broughty Ferry as well as Broughty Castle. To the eastern is the huge Tentsmuir Nature Reserve, an area of forested dunes measuring some 3 km from eastern to west and 6 km from north to south as well as edged by broad sands that proceed right round to the mouth of the River Eden. The civil parish of Ferry-Port on Craig has a population of 3,815 (in 2011).
