Newnham

Newnham or Newnham on Severn is a village in west Gloucestershire, England. It depends on the Royal Forest of Dean, on the west bank of the River Severn, about 10 miles south-west of Gloucester and also three miles southeast of Cinderford. It gets on the A48 road in between Gloucester as well as Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales. The town has a parish council. A parish church was developed in the 14th century (although there had been a church of simplicity because 1018), and in 1366 a new church structure was improved the high ground of the village as the old one encountered erosion from the river. The new building has itself been harmed by a gunpowder explosion in 1644 throughout the English Civil War and also a fire in 1881, however is still in use. As a result of Newnham's location on the Severn, the Ancient Romans developed three roads via the area, where they forded the river. The Anglo-Saxons established an irreversible settlement, the Normans constructed a motte-and-bailey fortification for protection, and in middle ages times it ended up being a significant port with links around Great Britain and Ireland. In 1171, Henry II of England staged an intrusion of Ireland from Newnham. One account declared that he dove in with 400 ships and 5,000 males, which suggests its relevance as a port. For a time Newnham was one of the most successful Gloucestershire community west of the Severn. Its role as a port as well as trading center declined, nevertheless, rapidly with the 1827 opening of the Gloucester as well as Sharpness Canal. In 1810, an early attempt at a Severn passage began construction just southern of Newnham. Work was deserted after flooding in 1812. The civil parish belongs to Newnham and also Westbury electoral ward. This ward starts in the north at Westbury-on-Severn and afterwards complies with the River Severn to Newnham. The overall population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 3,088.

✓ Spread the gravel. In the process of purchasing your gravel, ensure to select handy bags, bulk bags if tipped loose. If you go for the bags there may be a need of wheelbarrow to help move the gravel around, however with a tipped loose you can have the gravel chippings tipped directly on to the driveway.

✓ Make use of the hose. It’s possible that when your gravel arrives, it’ll be be dusty. Make use of an hose to run over the driveway to bring out the true colours of your driveway.
