Abbots Ripton

Abbots Ripton has a long history. The Domesday book names it Riptone, and in the 11th century it was known as Riptune. Moat Farm has trees as old as Shakespeare's era, and St. Andrew's church tower is approximately 400 years old. It includes a bell manufactured in 1400 and another from 1671. The nave, aisle and porch of the church are even older, erected in the 13th century.
The village has a 17th-century pub, the Three Horseshoes, which was badly damaged by a fire in 2010 due to embers in the chimney.
