Cardigan is a community and neighborhood in the region of Ceredigion in Wales. The community lies on a tidal reach of the River Teifi at the point where Ceredigion, formerly Cardiganshire, satisfies Pembrokeshire. Cardigan was the county town of the historic region as well as is the second-largest community in Ceredigion. The largest community, Aberystwyth, is just one of the two management centres; the other being Aberaeron. The negotiation at Cardigan was created around the Norman castle constructed in the late 11th or early 12th century. The castle was the place of the initial National Eisteddfod in 1176. The town ended up being an important port in the 18th century, but decreased by the very early 20th century owing to its shallow harbour. The castle underwent remediation in 2014. The population in 2001 was 4,203, decreasing a little to 4,184 at the 2011 census. Modern Cardigan is a compact and active community, having a lot of the facilities for retail, education and learning, health, praise as well as sport.
