Appleby-in-Westmorland is a market community as well as civil parish in the Eden area, in the administrative county of Cumbria, in North West England. The parish had a populace of 3,048 in 2011. It depends on a loop of the River Eden in the historical region of Westmorland, of which it was the county town. Its name was merely Appleby up until the local government changes of 1974.
