Edenbridge
Edenbridge is a community and civil parish in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, England. Its name stems from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (definition "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It is located on the Kent/ Surrey verge on the upper floodplain of the River Medway and offers its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The town has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was built in the very early 2000s to relieve web traffic stress on the old, narrow High Street is named Mont St Aignan Way. There are 2 banks in the community, a post office alongside the church and also a number of significant retail chains. Regardless of being a fairly small town, Edenbridge flaunts its own medical facility - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. Initially a cottage health center built to look after soldiers returning from The First World War, an objective constructed building was developed to the south of the town in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physiotherapy centers as well as a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a huge part of the fabric of the town. Recently the hospital has been confronted with closure many times, on each occasion it has been conserved by local campaigners and townspeople, who see the medical facility as an essential part of the community.
