Tillicoultry
Tillicoultry (population 5,900) is a community in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Tillicoultry is generally referred to as Tilly by the residents. One of the Hillfoots Towns on the A91, which runs from Stirling to St. Andrews, Tillicoultry is positioned at the southerly base of the Ochil Hills, which provide an amazing backdrop. The River Devon exists to the south. The river also goes through neighbouring towns Dollar and also Alva to the eastern as well as west respectively. The former mining village of Coalsnaughton exists simply south, whilst Alloa exists 4 mi southwest. The "hill" referred to in the first etymology is most likely to be Kirkhill, at the eastern of the town. The different Latin etymology, Tellus culta, the cultivated land, suggested by Rev. William Osborne, minister of the parish from 1773 to 1794, is additionally possible. Nonetheless, as both etymologies might equally be related to a hundred locations in Scotland, both are suspicious, as neither define the community in a distinct way.
