Edenbridge
Edenbridge is a community as well as civil parish in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, England. Its name originates from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (definition "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey approach the top floodplain of the River Medway and also offers its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was integrated in the early 2000s to ease web traffic stress on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are two banks in the community, a post office alongside the church as well as a number of major retail chains. Despite being a fairly small town, Edenbridge boasts its own medical facility - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. At first a cottage medical facility built to take care of soldiers returning from The First World War, a purpose constructed building was developed to the south of the community in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physical rehabilitation centers as well as a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a huge part of the fabric of the community. In recent times the healthcare facility has been confronted with closure sometimes, on each event it has been conserved by neighborhood advocates and also townspeople, who see the medical facility as an important part of the community.
