Abbots Bromley
Positioned in Staffordshire in the West Midlands, Abbots Bromley is a small historic village. It is well-known for its yearly Horn Dance which takes place on Wakes Monday, the day following the first Sunday following 4th September. The Horn Dance is a folk dance from the Middle Ages where players dance through the village. In 2001, Abbots Bromley had a population of 1,799. The village can be traced back to 942, and is recorded in the Domesday Book.
Abbots Bromley is 6.8 miles south west of Uttoxeter. The nearest railway station is at Rugeley which is 5.8 miles south west of the village. 1.8 miles from the midpoint of the village is the Blithfield Reservoir, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Abbots Bromley also offers the natural features of Bagot's Wood and the greatest remaining part of the Needwood Forest, an age-old forest demolished at the end of the 18th century.
