Coniston is a town and civil parish in the Furness region of Cumbria, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it lies in the southern part of the Lake District National Park, between Coniston Water, the 3rd lengthiest lake in the Lake District and also Coniston Old Man; about 25 miles (40 kilometres) north eastern of Barrow-in-Furness. Coniston is found on the western coast of the north end of Coniston Water. It rests at the mouth of Coppermines Valley and also Yewdale Beck, which come down from the Coniston Fells, historically the area of ore and slate mining. Coniston's place hence established as a farming town and also transportation hub, offering these areas. Coniston was positioned in the very north-west of the historical region of Lancashire, with Coniston Old Man developing the region's highest point.
