Chinnor is a big town and also civil parish in South Oxfordshire concerning 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) southeast of Thame. The town is a spring line negotiation [1] on the Icknield Method below the Chiltern escarpment. Because 1932 the civil parish has actually included the town of Emmington. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 5,924. Chinnor is mostly a dorm village for Thame, High Wycombe, Aylesbury and London. Previously it had a big concrete jobs, and prior to that a number of furniture-making artisans. Chinnor grew most rapidly in the 1960s-- from a population of 1,961 in the 1951 Census to 4,471 in the 1971 Census. The village was after that largely focused around the main rectangle-shaped street strategy of Station Road, Lower Road, High Street and Church Road. The community of Oakley to the southwest was subsumed into the town around this time around, when building along Oakley Roadway as well as the Mill Lane estate more than doubled the physical dimension of the town.
