Bingley is a market town within the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford positioned in West Yorkshire, England. The town is on the River Aire along with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and is situated in Airedale to the south of Ilkley Moor. The population has recently witnessed a decline, having a population of roughly 20,000 in 2001 and decreasing to roughly 18,294 as recorded in the 2011 Census. The meaning of the town's name is often thought to be 'Bing's Clearing' and has Saxon origins.
