Carpets are an extremely popular preference of flooring, in particular in rooms of your home where comfort is important, like living spaces and bedrooms. Carpet designates a kind of flooring where a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets come in a huge variety of colours and styles to match any style of interior decor, as well as in numerous different kinds of fibre and piles. A few of the more prevalent types of fibre materials include the synthetic fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. These types of carpet are normally available in short or deep pile and can be manufactured by utilising a range of manufacturing methods, such as twist, Saxony, loop pile, Berber, cut and loop, or velvet. Carpets are available in patterned, plain or striped designs. All of these various types of carpet are scored according to their performance and how successfully they are suited to different amounts of traffic. They are normally graded to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suited to utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to install carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this can enhance the look and feel of the carpet, as well as extending its life and offering better sound and thermal insulation.

Alloa is a town found in Clackmannanshire, set inside the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It is located on the north bank of the Firth of Forth next to the foot of the Ochil Hills, 5.5 miles (8.9 kilometres) east of Stirling and 7.9 miles (12.7 kilometres) north of Falkirk. The name possibly means 'rock plain'. At the time of the 2001 census, Alloa had a permanent population of 18,989. Upgrades were made to the harbour through the eighteenth century, resulting in Alloa thriving as a river port by which the merchandise made in Glasgow were exported to continental Europe. During that time, and till the 1950s, the principle industry to the north and east of the town was coal mining. Wool has also often been plentiful locally and in the early years of the 19th century, John Paton set up a small yarn-spinning company inside the town, later establishing Kilncraigs Mill. His business merged with J. & J. Baldwin of Halifax in 1924 to become the world-famous Paton & Baldwins Ltd. Alloa was renowned for its weaving and glassmaking industries throughout the 19th and into the early 20th century. Alloa has long been associated with the brewing industry, with a minimum of nine major breweries producing ales at its height. It was also home to a distillery. After the closure of the distillery, barrel production has continued to flourish in the town. The town boasts a thriving shopping centre, with nationally recognised supermarket chains on the site of the old distillery, near to the railway station. For all of your house improvements, make sure that you use trustworthy specialists in Alloa to make sure that you receive good quality work.

If you’re thinking of getting a new carpet, one of the most likely issues you’re going to face is how to identify the types of carpet as there are a plethora of options in the market today. Being able to identify types of carpet can go a long way to make sure you get the most suitable type for your home without having to pay a professional. In this post, we’re going to consider the types of carpets and how you can identify them with ease. Let’s take a look!
When it comes of carpet construction, there are two main types which are defined by how their fibres are attached to their backings. These includes:
On the other hand, carpets are made from different synthetic and natural fibres with varying characteristics. These includes nylon (the most popular as its durable and, wear and stain resistant), olefin ( resistant to moisture, mildew and mold), acrylic (a cheaper alternative to wool) and wool (the premier carpeting option and the only natural fibre used in manufacturing carpets).
Do you have a busy household or a thriving business? When you have a carpeted stairs faced with a high traffic on a regular basis, you know its going to take quite a beating over time. As a result, the carpet tends to start looking tired and worn out almost immediately especially if it isn’t designed to withstand such an heavy usage. Hence, the importance of taking an extra little time when deciding on which new stair carpet or stair runners to purchase and install so as to identify those with sturdier properties which are designed to last and also durable. This way, regardless of the amount of traffic it faces on a regular basis, it’ll always stay looking smart and healthy with good maintenance efforts. In this post, we’re going to consider the best carpet for stairs with a high foot traffic. Let’s take a look!
When looking for a good carpet for a heavy traffic stairs, you need to be able to identify hard-wearing stair carpet runners most of which will be clearly labelled as such. These carpets are designed to handle a high level of footfalls primarily because of the way they’re manufactured and materials incorporated. These materials include sisal (one of the best materials to look out for when you’re shopping for a hard-wearing stair carpet) and polypropylene which is an extremely popular material used in hard-wearing carpets due to its incredible features.
Apart from the materials incorporated, a lot of the strength and resilience also comes from the way in which the fibres are constructed and woven. The most reliable types of carpet weaves to look out for when choosing a high traffic stair carpet runner includes flatweave, wilton weave as well as needlepunch.
Getting the perfect carpet for your home can be seem as a bit tricky especially with the wide range of carpet options available in the market today. Most often than not, several home and property owners simply go to the store and purchase a carpet that they find the most aesthetically appealing and within their budget, neglecting its suitability for their homes. This can often turn out to be a disaster especially when there’s a total mismatch. For instance, when you have a busy household or thriving business with a heavy footfall, but you go on to install a carpet that’s not designed to withstand such a high traffic. If you’re looking to select the best carpet for your home, then you’ve come to the right place! In this post, we’re going to look how you can identify the best carpet for your home to help you make the best informed decision.
Basically, there are two carpet styles which includes loop pile and cut pile. For the loop style pile, individual ends are linked into the backing to ensure a continuous loop. While for the cut style pile, the loops are cut to ensure that each ends are sticking up through the backing - similar to a sheer cut pile.
Furthermore, fibre is critical material when it comes to carpet and the three main types of fibres used today includes polypropylene, polyester as well as nylon. Furthermore, the most popular choice today when it comes to natural fibre is wool. However, wool’s high price makes it less common and often considered as a luxurious option. For heavy traffic areas, the best carpets are usually loop pile styles to ensure maximum value is derived from your asset. On the other hand, if you want an easy-to-clean carpet, then olefin and polyester should be on the top of your list.
Adding brand new carpets is one of the quickest ways you can employ to revamp your room and update your home design. Whether you’re looking to inject a new lease of life through a splash of colour or perhaps you simply wish to replace the current worn out or tired looking thread-bare floor, a new carpet can go a long way to have a major impact on how your home feels and looks. At the same time, it can also be a relatively inexpensive way to make a significant change. However, it’s always essential to know the cost before carrying out such a project. In this post, we’re going to consider room recarpeting costs in order to help you make the best informed decision possible moving forward. Let’s take a look!
Generally, carpet are priced per square metre and the cost depends on a number of factors which includes the material as well as the manufacture of the carpet you opt for. On the lower side of the spectrum, you can expect to incur as little as £5 per square metre for a simple and synthetic carpet, while at the other end, a luxurious woolen carpet can cost in excess of £30 per square metre.
While the major and most significant part of the cost would be the price of the material itself, there are however other costs you’ll need to take into account. These costs includes the cost of the underlay which is usually within the range of £5 per square metre to about £15 per square metre, the carpet grippers as well as the cost of labour. Overall, the total cost for a carpet fitting job is normally within the range of £13 per square metre for a simple carpet and installation, and £50 per square metre for a luxurious carpet.
