Burgess Hill can be described as civil parish as well as a town primarily located in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England, close to the boundary with East Sussex, within the edge of the South Downs National Park. Situated 62 km (39 mi) south of London, 16 km (9.9 mi) north of Brighton and Hove, and 47 km (29 mi) east-northeast from the county town of Chichester, it occupies a space of 9.47 km2 (3.66 sq mi) along with a population of 28,803 during the 2001 Census, defining it as the most populated parish within the area. Other close by towns include Haywards Heath to the north east and Lewes, the county town of East Sussex, to the south east.
