Bognor Regis is a seaside resort town and civil parish inside the historic county of Sussex on the south coast of England. Since 1960, the temperatures recorded at Bognor have never fallen below -9.4C or risen above 31.5 Celsius, when compared with other places in the Sussex Weald dropping below -15 Celsius and increasing above 35C. From 1864, numerous wealthy Victorian households appeared in the town and a seaside resort was subsequently created by Sir Richard Hotham. Since the start of the 1930s, an amusement park and a zoo have been open in the area, and a vacation camp in the 1960s has led the town towards extra hotel accommodation with modern amenities. The population of Bognor steadily improved over the course of the 20th century, being at roughly 63,855 as per the 2011 census. The post-war period witnessed partial industrial redevelopment, particularly in the 1960s following the creation of a new shopping parade, health centre and high-rise block of flats. The town centre is mainly pedestrian friendly, creating an extremely accessible buying experience for the town's residents and tourists.
