Campbeltown
Campbeltown (population 4,852) is a community and previous royal burgh in Argyll as well as Bute, Scotland. It lies by Campbeltown Loch on the Kintyre peninsula. Originally called Kinlochkilkerran (an anglicization of the Gaelic, which suggests "head of the loch by the kirk of Ciarán"), it was relabelled in the 17th century as Campbell's Community after Archibald Campbell (Earl of Argyle) was provided the website in 1667. Campbeltown came to be an important centre for Scotch whisky, and a busy angling port.
