Strathaven
Strathaven is a historical market community in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the largest negotiation in Avondale. The community was approved a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Town of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The present approximated population is 7,500. The town is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water, around 6 miles (10 kilometres) from Hamilton and also 18 miles (29 km) from Glasgow. The A71, which connects Edinburgh and also Kilmarnock travels through the community. In the 2001 census the town had a population of 7,700. Strathaven has one high school as well as three primary schools - Kirklandpark Primary, Wester Overton Primary, and also St Patrick's Primary. It also has a lawn landing field concerning 2 miles (3 km) to the north west on Lethame Road.
