Bruton
Bruton is a village, selecting ward, and civil parish in Somerset, England, on the River Brue along the A359 in between Frome as well as Yeovil. It is 7 miles (11 km) south-east of Shepton Club, simply south of Snakelake Hill as well as Coombe Hill, 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Gillingham and also 12 miles (19 km) south-west of Frome in South Somerset district. The town and ward have a population of 2,907. The church includes the districts of Wyke Champflower and Redlynch. Bruton has a museum of products from its past from the Jurassic onwards. It includes a table used by the author John Steinbeck to create on during a six-month stay in Bruton. The River Brue has a history of flooding. In 1768 it ruined a rock bridge. On 28 June 1917, 242.8 mm of rain fell in 1 day, leaving a water mark on a bar 20 feet above the typical degree. In 1984 a safety dam was developed 1 km upstream from the town.
