Battle
Battle is a small town and also civil parish in the local government area of Rother in East Sussex, England. It lies 50 miles (80 kilometres) south-east of London, 30 miles (50 kilometres) eastern of Brighton and also 20 miles (30 km) eastern of Lewes. Hastings is to the south-east and Bexhill-on-Sea to the south. Battle remains in the designated High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and also is a visitor destination and traveler town for clerical employees in the City of London. The parish population was 6,048 according to the 2001 census, raising to 6,673 with the 2011 Census. Battle is the site of the Battle of Hastings, where William, Duke of Normandy, beat King Harold II to come to be William I in 1066.
