Wigton
Wigton is a market community in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it exists just outside the Lake District in the borough of Allerdale. Wigton is at the centre of the Solway Plain, between the Caldbeck Fells and the Solway shore. It is offered by Wigton train station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, and also the A596 roadway to Workington. The town of Silloth-on-Solway exists twelve miles to the west, past Abbeytown. Wigton today is a prospering market community, with livestock public auctions being held routinely at Hopes Auction Company. The main employer is Innovia Films. The town has its very own senior high school, called The Nelson Thomlinson College, which is a well-performing comprehensive with close links to the Innovia factory. In 2004 the community was the first settlement in the United Kingdom to implement a curfew on young adults under the age of 16. It was in location for 2 weeks, and also its objective was to decrease the amount of vandalism in the community centre. It complied with every night criminal damage campaigns, that included shattered store fronts, in addition to scare tactics of senior participants of the area.
