Start your projectBarnard Castle is a market community in Teesdale, County Durham, England. It is called after the castle around which it was constructed. It is the major negotiation in the Teesdale location, as well as is a popular traveler location. Close-by towns consist of Bishop Auckland to the north-east, Darlington to the eastern as well as Richmond in North Yorkshire to the south-east. Barnard Castle's biggest solitary company is GlaxoSmithKline which has a manufacturing center on the borders of town. Barnard Castle is for all functions (historic, ritualistic and management) located in County Durham. The area boundary with the North Riding of Yorkshire was adjusted in 1967: that part of the community of Barnard Castle traditionally in Yorkshire was contributed to County Durham. Barnard Castle was the management centre of the previous Teesdale district of County Durham up until its abolition on 1 April 2009. The town is now carried out by Durham County Council Unitary Authority, as major authority and also by Barnard Castle Town Council, as a parish. The Town Council elects a ritualistic Town Mayor yearly. It becomes part of the Bishop Auckland parliamentary constituency, which since 2017 is represented in parliament by Helen Goodman of Labour, though with a small majority over the Conservatives. It is in the North East England region, which functions as a constituency for the European Parliament. Between 1894 and also 1967 the community was administratively part of Barnard Castle Urban District.
