Brackley is a town within south Northamptonshire. It is about 19 miles (31 kilometres) from Oxford and 22 miles (35 km) from Northampton. Originally a market town primarily based on the wool and lace trade, it was constructed on the intersection of trade routes in between London, Birmingham and the English Midlands and between Cambridge and Oxford. Brackley has a permanent resident population of around 13,018 (2011 Census) which has increased significantly from 2,467 in 1901. In 1602, the metaphysical poet John Donne was elected as Member of Parliament for the constituency of Brackley. Brackley is near the Silverstone racing circuit, and features some industry associated with Formula One racing, notably the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team which is primarily based within the town, along with the Force India F1 team which uses a wind tunnel on the old site of the north railway station. On the east outskirts of the town is H. Bronnley & Co., makers of hand-made soaps who hold Royal Warrants of Appointment for supplying Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. The Brackley Morris Men are 1 of only 7 'traditional Cotswold' Morris dancing sides remaining in England and the only one to survive in Northamptonshire. Their history dates back to the 1600s when a solid silver communion plate was given to the parish. The plate which remains in the possession of St Peters Church is dated 1623, and is inscribed with the names of seven men, whom local folklore believes to have been the morris dancers. Brackley features football, rugby and tennis clubs. For all your property improvement projects, be certain that you pick vetted specialists in Brackley to make sure you get a top quality service.
